I have changed the timer's picture. Is there a way to change it back to the default picture that came with the program?
Yes. Tap and hold down on the picture icon for 3 seconds until you receive an acknowledgement.
Can I have the screen blanked while a timer is counting down and have it sound an alert with the screen still blank?
Since Apple does not allow programs to run in the background, an alert produced by the program can only be sounded when the program is running. The device must not be asleep and the program must be running. If Apple changes their restrictions, then the feature will be added to the program. However, there is one case where it is possible. If the device is plugged in, with the program running, and you press the sleep switch to blank the screen, the program continues to run and the alert will sound when the timer reaches zero. This is because when the device is plugged in it is not really sleeping like it is when on battery, since it does not need to conserve power in this case.
